Cyber Monday. What joyous thoughts I had dancing in my head about this online shopping days of shopping days! I was going to sell 5 times as much as I normally did and make a great profit. Enough, in fact, that it would pay for my personal Christmas shopping spree.

As an independent consultant for Marlo Quinn and That’s A Wrap!, I can be with my kids and work from home. I mean, that is the point of being a WAHM after all. But, and here’s the exception since you knew it was coming, I still have to go outside the home to rep at parties. That sort of defeats the purpose of being a WAHM, doesn’t it? There is a solution though and it’s called an “online party”. Read the rest of this entry »

After reading how great article marketing was from various marketing and networking groups, I decided to try my hand at it. How difficult could it be, right?

After much gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair, I finally finished my second article “Natural Ingredients for All Skin Types” the other day and posted it to my website and various other article submission sites. My first article is called “Candles Online: Guidelines on How to Choose the Right One”. Both can be found on ezinearticles.com and associatedcontent.com. Writing them only took me about two weeks. I still have most of my hair, I think.

Anyway, my point was not to promote the articles I have written (or to give you the impression that I’m bald from writer’s frustration) but to tell you about my experience writing them.

Being 9 months pregnant, its difficult to get out and meet new people. However, I did it. I really, truly did! In the past three days, I’ve been to an open house and a Harvest Festival merrily handing out business cards and talking up a storm. Of course, afterwards I had to lay down for an hour or two but I think the time spent on meeting new people offline is just as important as meeting them online.

I’m new to networking, actually. Its been an interesting experience for the most part. My first attempt was an offline women’s networking group based in N. California. I had a great time and met a lot of wonderful women. However, I wasn’t really prepared to promote myself to them. I’m better prepared this time around so once the baby is old enough, I’m going back to take another swing at networking.

Next, I was encouraged by several women that I know to join online networking groups.  So I did and I thought it was great joining all these networking groups on Ryze, Yahoo! Groups, ConnectingHer.com, and DirectMatches.com. But, seriously, where am I going to find the time to stay current on the topics? Not that the people aren’t absolutely wonderful (for the most part). I’m just trying to balance work and life at the same time. I’d rather spend a half an hour with my children rather than answering emails and posting, personally. So, I’m paring down to the essentials that mean more to my professionally and personally.

And, as a WAHM, that’s probably my best bet anyway. Truthfully, networking is great because I can meet new people, market to them, learn from them, and make new friends along the way!
